Midseason NBA Player Rankings: Steph Curry vs. James Harden
By Bryce Olin
12. Al Horford
15.2 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 3.2 APG, 20.7 PER
Al Horford has re-emerged as one of the best post players in the NBA after battling back from a bad torn pectoral injury last season.
While Horford probably should be featured more heavily in the Hawks offense, he’s the player they need when the game slows down in the playoffs. Horford has star potential in the NBA, although he hasn’t panned out to be that player so far in his career.
Horford has shown glimpses of what he could be if he was on a team that needed him to be their star. Over his last four games, Horford is averaging 18.0 points, 5.3 assists, and 6.8 rebounds while shooting 76 percent from the field.
Can you imagine if Horford was on a different team where he was “the guy”? Horford would be putting up the best offenses numbers for a center in the entire league.
Ultimately, Horford is a great fit for the Hawks. I can’t stop watching their team. After seeing what they did to the Indiana Pacers in the playoffs last season without Horford, I think Atlanta has a real shot at winning the East.
Before the season, I never thought I’d admit that, but the Hawks look terrific.
Next: Russell Westbrook
