Analyst Troy Aikman thinks the NFL should drop the hammer on the New England Patriots and punish them more severely than the New Orleans Saints were a few years ago.

The New England Patriots are embroiled in another cheating scandal, for intentionally deflating and tampering with game balls in the AFC Championship.

Head coach Bill Belichick addressed the media today and denied any prior knowledge of the situation, and subtly pointed the finger at quarterback Tom Brady.

NFL analyst and Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman commented on the situation during an interview with The Ticket, a Dallas area radio station. During the interview, Aikman compared the Patriots “deflate gate” scandal to the “bounty gate” scandal that rocked the New Orleans Saints a few years back.

Aikman went on to say that he thinks the Patriots should have a punishment more severe than the Saints got for that incident.

If you recall, Saints heads coach Sean Payton was suspended for a whole season.

And what might be more interesting is that Aikman also thinks Brady had something to do with it.

Aikman would know what he is talking about, having played the same position and having a great deal of success in doing so. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Brad Johnson admitted recently that he bribed someone to alter footballs before the Super Bowl.

And it looks like both Belichick and Aikman both might be right when pointing at Brady. NBC News reports that Brady addressed the football scandal on Thursday and said he liked them a “certain way.”

It will be interesting to see if the NFL punishes the Patriots, Belichick, or Brady before their marquee game, the Super Bowl.
