Klay Thompson just had one of the greatest quarters in NBA history. Not of the season, not of the last few years, in the entire history of the NBA. In the third quarter against the Sacramento Kings, Thompson had 37 points. You read that correctly, he had THIRTY. SEVEN. The most points scored in a quarter, by a single player, in NBA history. Thompson holds a record that Wilt Chamberlain doesn’t, and that’s insanity.
Klay Thompson shot 73% from 3-point range vs Kings tonight. That's best in NBA history, for a player who took at least 15 3-pointers in game

Most points in quarter, NBA history

Klay Thompson 37
George Gervin 33 (1977-78)
Carmelo Anthony 33 (2007-08)
Lets put all of this on a shot chart.
Looks accurate. (H/t Wes Goldberg)
What was really incredible about Thompson’s performance is how it captured the minds and hearts of everybody watching. Warriors fans, Kings fan, NBA fans, and sports fans in general were all tuning in to see if Thompson would ever miss a shot again. The guy was basically running around firing flames out of his hands, and there was nothing anybody could do to stop him. The Kings tried calling timeout, fouling him, and getting up in his face, but nothing they did could slow down his historic quarter.
Thompson’s performance even had other NBA players tuning in to see if he would stop.
Wow. Klay

Thompson started off the quarter with 13 points, and finished it with 50. He is now sitting on the bench for the remainder of the game with a total of 52 points on 25 shot attempts.
This is every single shot he attempted, and he made all of them.

Congrats on your record Klay Thompson. This is one that’s probably not getting broken for awhile.
