NBA Trade Rumors: Boston Celtics looking to move Tayshaun Prince
By Josh Hill
The NBA Trade Deadline is approaching, and the rumor mill is starting to heat up again with the Boston Celtics.
As the NBA trade deadline approaches, the rumor mill continues to spin faster and faster in anticipation of what could be a busy trading period. It’s not that there are massive names left to trade, as blockbusters have already gone down with the Knicks, Cavaliers, Grizzlies, Celtics and Mavericks to name a few.

It’s those contracts that the Boston Celtics have been acquiring that are of great interest to those watching the rumor mill, as they have a number of assets that could be moved. From draft picks to players with expiring deals, the Celtics look like they could remain active up to the deadline and beyond.
According to the Boston Globe, the Celtics are either going to buyout or trade Tayshaun Prince before the season is over.
"According to league sources, the Celts would still like to move Prince for a draft pick before the Feb. 19 NBA trade deadline. … There was strong word that if Prince wasn’t moved by the deadline that the Celtics would seek agreement with him on a buyout of this final year of his contract (he makes a bit more than $7.2 million)."
Prince was moved to Boston in the Jeff Green deal this month, and he’s looking like a prime candidate to be moved before the deadline arrives. He doesn’t have to be traded though, as teams may just wait the Celtics out and hold off for a buyout to happen.
Still, Prince is an option that the Celtics are looking at to possibly give them more draft picks — as if they don’t already have enough as it is.
Prince is a player that a contending team may want to stash on their bench for a playoff run which is why he’s a name of note as the deadline approaches. Of course, he’s far from the player he once was but that doesn’t mean someone won’t take a chance on trying to either trade for him or bring him in after a buyout.
