16. Larry Csonka in Super Bowl VIII

RB, Miami Dolphins

One of the great power runners in NFL history put his mark on Super Bowl history on Jan. 13, 1974. Against the Minnesota Vikings’ respected defense Larry Csonka dominated the game from start to finish. On his MVP award winning day he ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns on 33 carries. His longest run was just 16 yards; that is how hard he fought for each yard.

Csonka scored the first touchdown of the game and then put the nail in Minnesota’s coffin with his second touchdown. That score put the Dolphins up 24-0 in the third quarter and by that point the game was over. Miami’s quarterback Bob Griese threw for just 73 yards on the day because of how well Csonka was moving the chains via the ground. That in itself is impressive.
