Super Bowl 49: 10 biggest underdogs of all-time
By Evan Massey
5. Super Bowl XXV – Giants 20, Bills 19
The Buffalo Bills were highly favored against the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXV, mainly due to the fact that they had just dominated the Los Angeles Raiders by a final score of 51-3. New York on the other hand, had squeaked out a win on a last-second field goal over the San Francisco 49ers.
Obviously the Giants didn’t listen to the media, and they walked into the Super Bowl and came out as champions. Buffalo was favored by seven points, but they came up eight points shy of meeting those expectations.
Needless to say, this was a huge win for the Giants’ franchise, and it has remained as one of the biggest Super Bowl upsets in the history of the game. The Giants have won championships since then, but it is still one of the sweetest memories for their franchise.
