4. Super Bowl XV – Raiders 27, Eagles 10

The Oakland Raiders faced a very talented Philadelphia Eagles team in Super Bowl XV, and they also made history in the process of getting there. Back in 1980, no wildcard team had ever reached the Super Bowl and that is exactly what the Raiders were able to do.

Perhaps that the was the main reason that the Raiders weren’t expected to pull off the win. They certainly were better than many gave them credit for, and part of that is due to the big role that Jim Plunkett played even though he hadn’t shed his “bust” status yet.

There was no doubt following the game that the Raiders were the better team. It was certainly an upset, and in the top 10 of all-time.
