The Miss Universe Pageant was a memorable one for Giancarlo Stanton and Miss Colombia, Pauline Vega.

Giancarlo Stanton had one of his most memorable moments Sunday night, when he served as a judge for the Miss Universe pageant. He helped crown Miss Colombia, Pauline Vega.

Stanton had no problem formulating his idea of how Miss Universe should be, according to Fox Sports. “Overall personality, the way you present yourself. Just be natural with it, have fun and look forward to being the next Miss Universe. That’s what it’s all about.”

Stanton was joined by boxer Manny Pacquiao and other prominent judges. There was no doubt as to whether Pacquino was going to seal the deal for this event. And Stanton seemed pleased to be of service.

One of Stanton’s primary roles of the event was to question Miss Netherlands. He asked her “what’s the biggest change you’d like to see for young women in the next generation?” His suave seemed to rattle her slightly, as she needed to ask for him to repeat the question.

At the completion, Stanton huddled together with the other judges and selected Miss Colombia as the winner. Nia Sanchez of the United States was the runner up. Stanton’s duties also reportedly included an appearance at the after party. [related category]

In Colombia, people wasted no time beginning the celebration. Colombians quickly took to the streets for parties, parades and fireworks. The country erupted like a Stanton home run. Even President Juan Manuel Santos voiced his pleasure.

And the celebrations were long overdue. The last time that the entrant from the country with the world’s most beautiful women had won was in 1958. Reportedly, the celebrations were most festive in Vega’s home city of Barranquilla. And the parties lasted well into the night.

Colombia is a beautiful country with beautiful people. They are happy, hard-working and family orientated. The Miss Universe Pageant is a big deal to them. It carries all of the importance of the World Series. And finally, after decades of anticipation, they have finally won again!

Vega responded quickly when asked about her country’s contributions. “I believe that my country has been an example to be followed for the rest of the countries,” she said according to eonline.com. “We are persevering people…and we continue fighting. Today, we are world leaders in many different parts.” And She is excited about all of the opportunities that will come with her crown.

For Stanton, this is not his first television appearance. He has appeared in episodes of “Off The Bat From The MLB Fan Cave. He appeared in the pilot episode. He also starred with Jimmy Rollins and Josh Donaldson in another episode.

So the question becomes, what lies ahead for Stanton? Will he partake in a movie role, as Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and other baseball stars have done? Since signing what has been called “the most lucrative deal for an American athlete,” thirteen years with the Marlins at $325 million, the opportunities seem to be rolling in.

And that hasn’t happened by coincidence. His comments about his negotiation with the Marlins startled many. “I didn’t want to talk about dollars in the meeting,” he said according to yahoo.com. “I wanted to talk about ‘what’s our plan?”

And the Marlins have shown him by gathering pieces to surround him in their quest to bring another World Series championship to Miami. Ichiro Suzuki is now reportedly in fold. The hot stove rumors have them hot on the trail of more, which is something that has Stanton pleased.

Like Vega, everything he does comes from his desire to help the people he loves. ” You guys can think what you want,” he said. But it was not the money fueling this.(his decision to stay in Miami). This was the toughest decision of my life.”

And like Vega, he is proud of where he lives. “I love living here. I love the people. I love the environment. I said it from the beginning… this is a place where I want to make a stamp and make something Miami hasn’t seen before.”

So Sunday night’s pageant left two young celebrities excited about their immediate futures, both ready to forge their places in history. One, the most promising young hitter in baseball, and the other, the queen of the universe.
