Super Bowl 49: Top 15 quarterback performances all-time
By Brad Rowland
6) Tom Brady, New England Patriots, Super Bowl XXXVIII
Tom Brady has guided the Patriots to three Super Bowl victories, but only one individual showing was potent enough to land him on this list. The then 26-year-old quarterback led New England to a narrow, 32-29 win over the hard-charging Carolina Panthers, and they needed every bit of production that came from the arm of Brady.
In the game, the former Michigan Wolverine was forced to attempt 48 passes, which still ranks as a top-10 output in Super Bowl history, and he completed 32 of them for 354 yards. Brady connected with six different receivers, including 10 catches from Deion Branch, and in the end, he finished with three touchdowns against just one interception.
After 15 years, it is sometimes tough to remember that Brady began his career as more of a “game manager”, but this game arguably set the tone for this career emergence as a pass-first quarterback. Oh, and he was pretty good in that vein.
