Denver Broncs wide receiver Demaryius Thomas is being heavily recruited by former teammate Eric Decker to join the New York Jets.

During the Denver Broncos run to the Super Bowl last season, quarterback Peyton Manning had a dynamic corp of receivers, specifically with the duo of Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas.

After the season ended, Decker left the Broncos to go to the New York Jets, leaving his friend Thomas behind. It might be only temporary, because Thomas becomes a free agent this March and could go to any team in the league.

And if it were up to Decker, he would join him with the Jets and he has been campaigning for that to happen.

“I’ve been pushing for the entire year now,”Decker told the New York Post. “It was just another opportunity to talk to him about it. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens. I think it would be tough for Denver to let him go. So whether they franchise-tag him here in the next month or give him a long-term deal, he’s just one of those premier players in this league. If he happens to make it to free agency, I would love to sign him because playing alongside him for four years and especially the last two years made it a lot of fun and made it a lot easier. He’s just one of the great players in this league.”

Of course Thomas would go to a franchise with a new head coach, question marks at quarterback and no immediate success seemingly in sight. If Thomas were to stay with the Broncos he’d probably catch passes from one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks for maybe one more season, but there is no guarantee beyond 2015 in what will be a team hellbent on getting Peyton Manning another Super Bowl ring if he returns.

It is an interesting decision for Thomas, but with probably every NFL team vying for his services in free agency I doubt the Jets are very appealing.
