Tennessee Titans safety Bernard Pollard has one year remaining on a two year deal with the team and was scheduled to make $3.1 million for the 2015 NFL season. According to Tennesseean Titans Insider, Pollard asked for his release at the end of the 2014, making the request to general manager Ruston Webster.

The team hasn’t made a decision yet on Pollard, a nine year veteran who spent the last part of the season on injured reserve. On Friday, Pollard made his disapproval known on a move the team made by firing
vice president of player personnel, Lake Dawson.

Makes you wonder who exactly Pollard thought should get fired and further adds to what is obviously his unhappiness with the organization. GM Webster had no comment on either situation on Friday.

Pollard is 30 and would be coming off an ACL rupture, whether he ends up with the Titans or another team. He won a Super Bowl with the Ravens in the 2012 season before joining the Titans in 2013. Pollard said in his show earlier in the month that he intends to play in 2015, but he isn’t sure that should be with the Titans.

Winning has been hard to come by for the Titans of late. They went 2-14 this last season and 7-9 in 2013. Their quarterback situation in 2014 was woeful and could be even more interesting this year as the guy they tried to designate as their franchise quarterback, Jake Locker, could be done in Tennessee after finishing out the year with yet another injury.

Pollard was injured in Week 5 against the Browns and was placed on injured reserve, where he would finish out the season. He had 26 tackles and a sack during those first five games, after playing all of 2013 and amassing 142 stops. He is currently making progress in his rehab, having been out of a walking boot for months.
