Seattle Seahawks star cornerback Richard Sherman doesn’t expect his baby to be born this evening, and will play against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 49.

There have been rumblings all week-long about the possibility that Seattle Seahawks star cornerback Richard Sherman could miss Super Bowl 49 due to the birth of his child. That isn’t going to end up being the case, and Sherman will be on the field against the New England Patriots tonight.

Seattle is looking to win their second Super Bowl in as many seasons, and the Seahawks are going to need Sherman to help defend against New England’s stellar aerial attack. Tom Brady played MVP caliber football down the stretch of the season after struggling early on, and is going to have a tough task tonight against the best defense in the NFL.

During the 2014 regular season, Sherman was once again one of the most feared corners in the game. Teams didn’t want to pass towards him, and when they did he made them pay. He ended up intercepting four passes to go along with 57 total tackles, one forced fumble, and eight passes broken up.

Those numbers show just how valuable Sherman is to the Seahawks’ defense, and he has made himself known in the postseason as well already. Against the Carolina Panthers, Sherman picked off a huge pass late in the game. Sherman also intercepted Aaron Rodgers against the Green Bay Packers last week in the NFC Championship game.

It is going to be very intriguing to see which Seahawks team shows up to start the game tonight. Last week against Green Bay they showed major flaws, and they haven’t been the dominant team that they were last season for the majority of this year. There have been some games where they have played with that dominance, and they need to start strong against the Patriots.

Don’t expect either team to blow the other out tonight. They are both extremely well coached and have plenty of talent on their rosters. It should be a very entertaining and exciting game, and will come down to which team executes their game plans better while taking care of the football.

Having Sherman on the field is huge news for the Seahawks, and it can put the fans’ minds at rest.
