Super Bowl 49: Field conditions for Seahawks vs Patriots
By Jack Crosby
How will the field be on Sunday for the Super Bowl showdown between the Seahawks and the Patriots?
We are now just a mere hours away from Super Bowl 49, which will be contested between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. Now these are two teams that, as we know, like to run that ball down someone’s throats whenever they get the chance, which makes tonight’s potentially punishing match up that much more fun to watch.
However, success in running the ball depends very much on the field conditions being in about as tip-top shape as possible. So with that being said, how is the field looking inside University of Phoenix Stadium with the game just a short time away?
Well, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio has a bit of an update on that. According to a team official that he spoke to, everything with the turf in Arizona is looking about as well as can possibly be.
"Per a high-ranking official with one of the teams that will square off there tonight, the field is considered to be in excellent condition, especially in light of the recent usages of it."
Of course, when he speaks about the usages of it, he is referring to the Super Bowl halftime show rehearsals by Katy Perry, as well the the fact that the Pro Bowl was played in the stadium just this past Sunday. However, with today’s landscaping technology, it’s fairly easy to have the surface in prime shape by the time it’s set for the Super Bowl teams to take the field.
