BAE Index, 2/1/15: Hassan Whiteside’s takeover

Welcome to the BAE Index.

Hassan Whiteside’s block

Every year there seems to be a player that comes out of nowhere to steal the limelight thanks to a hot stretch of play. This year, it’s Miami’s Hassan Whiteside, who continued his domination with this block on Boston’s Jarred Sullinger. Whiteside has had some monster games, and his success is a feel good story for everyone.

Jeremy Lin goes And-1 style

We go from this year’s feel good story, to the one from a few years ago. Jeremy Lin… Bless your heart. With Kobe Bryant out, and Swaggy fighting with coaches, someone has to try to do things. I know he got it back, but come on, man. Ya gotta be smarter than that, even if your team is as horrendous as the Lakers are.

Carmelo throws on down

Bad knee and all, Carmelo is out there fighting every night for coach Derek Fisher and the New York Knicks. He could end up having knee surgery following the All-Star game, so, we should probably enjoy everything we get from him now, including this throw down on the alleyoop from Jason Smith. Long live Jason Smith lob passes!

Hassan “Olajuwon” Whiteside with the turnaround

Okay, okay, okay. I think we need to see if this guy is actually Hakeem Olajuwon. Maybe he should be starting in the All-Star game. Oh well. Anyway, keep doing all these things, big fella. We see you, and we’re proud to see you doing these things.
