Emmitt Smith rips Seattle Seahawks’ play calling
By Evan Massey
Former NFL superstar running back Emmitt Smith ripped the Seattle Seahawks for their late play calling in their Super Bowl 49 28-24 loss at the hands of the New England Patriots.
Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks have been catching a lot of blame for their late game play calling against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 49 last night. The final play that Seattle ran was a pass play near the goal line and it was intercepted by defensive back Malcolm Butler. Not giving the football to running back Marshawn Lynch was a regretful decision.
Former NFL superstar running back Emmitt Smith took to Twitter to talk about the play call, and made it clear that he thought the call was terrible.
"That was the worst play call I've seen in the history of football."
No one can argue with this tweet, because the play call was very poor looking back at it. Seattle is a very talented football team, but to not feed their superstar running back who had been dominant all game was a disappointing decision to say the very least.

Lynch ended up carrying the football 24 times for 102 yards and a touchdown throughout Super Bowl 49, and also caught a pass for 31 yards. Those numbers should have gotten him the carry to finish the game off, especially because he had already proven that he could get into the end zone on the goal line earlier in the game. If Carroll could have that decision back, he would finish the game off strong rather than trying to get cute.
There are plenty of decisions for the Seahawks to make this coming offseason, especially with the contracts of Wilson and Lynch. Both players are going to demand pricey contracts, and they are both more than worthy of receiving what they are searching for.
It will be intriguing to watch what they do this offseason, especially with Lynch. He has had some major disagreements with Seattle’s management, and at one point was not expected to return to the team next year. That seems to have changed with the news that the Seahawks are offering him a monstrous extension, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that the two sides will get something done.
Expect to see Lynch back in Seattle next year despite the disagreements that they have had. He knows that he is too valuable for them to let him go, and as long as he gets paid he likely won’t hold grudges from the past.
