Welcome back to the Friendly Bounce Belt, our weekly power rankings of awesome moments in the NBA. Last time, Klay Thompson took home the title for his legendary third quarter. Let’s see who took home the title this week.
The Champion: Rudy Gay and his 360 Dunk
There’s just something about 360 dunks that make them special. Maybe it’s because of the perceived difficulty, or perhaps it’s the rarity of the dunk. Catching one of these in game is like seeing a king salmon. You know they exist, but have you or anybody you know ever seen one in the wild before? Well, Rudy Gay might not be a salmon, but he is a King, and he threw down a 360 dunk this week.
The Contenders
Marc Gasol players soccer during an NBA game
Marc Gasol is from Spain and over there in Europe that whole thing called “soccer” is pretty huge. So it should come as no surprise that Gasol has the ability to take a basketball and make it a soccer ball. In fact, he did so the other night in his game against the Orlando Magic.
Steph Curry’s ridiculous pass
We almost had two straight Warriors win the Friendly Bounce belt after Steph Curry dropped this ridiculous pass against the Bulls. Curry did this while fans across the country were sleeping, and it’s possible everybody watching thought they were in bed too, because nobody should be able to do this outside of our dreams.
Mike Miller’s return to Minnesota
You might have missed it, but a pretty a big name returned to Minnesota this week. The one, the only, the legendary Mike Miller. Did we forget someone? No, why do you ask? Is there someone we’re forgetting here?
The Pelicans local commercial parody
There is a very funny and strange local commercial in New Orleans that is pretty notorious. Well the New Orleans Pelicans decided to parody that commercial, and Ryan Anderson puts on the greatest performance of his career.
Jeff Teague and the Hawks are ridiculous
The Hawks finished the entire month of January 17-0. They’re the only team in NBA history to accomplish such a feat, and that’s pretty incredible. What’s even more ridiculous than that is this Jeff Teague pump fake. The Blazers are still looking for the ball
