Everyone thought the ball would be given to Marshawn Lynch down at the goal line, instead everyone was surprised about the play call and the interception. Richard Sherman was one of the surprised people as well.Â
Everyone in the building had expected the ball to be handed off to Marshawn Lynch in the final minute of the game to put the Seattle Seahawks ahead in the Super Bowl. Why wouldn’t you hand the ball off to the best running back in the game at that point? Maybe that is why the Seahawks tried to move in a different direction and threw the ball on the play. They wanted to surprise the Patriots.
Patriots CB Malcolm Brown was sitting on the route and came up with the biggest play of the game. He picked the ball off and the Patriots won the Super Bowl.
You could see the look of joy in the faces of the New England Patriots players after the play and you could see the look of despair in the faces of the Seattle Seahawks. It was a quick emotional turnaround for the team:
Sherman spoke to a reporter after the game and said that he was surprised by the play call.
Sherman on the play call: "I'm a little bit surprised. It was an unfortunate play.''

Everyone was surprised with the play call though. Why wouldn’t you just hand it off to Marshawn?
