The Dallas Mavericks hold the Golden State Warriors to four points in first 7:00 minutes

The team with the best record in the NBA is having major struggles scoring the ball against a short-handed Dallas Mavericks defense. After scoring just four points in the first 7:00 minutes of the game, the Warriors went on to be held to their worst first quarter this season.

More from Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks have been streaky at best this year on the defensive end. Having roster changes with the addition of Rajon Rondo and Rondo going down with an injury just as he was getting comfortable hasn’t helped the Mavericks either.

The Warriors have had quite the opposite start to the season. They have had no trouble scoring the ball, until tonight. This includes a 37 point quarter by guard, Klay Thompson.

That’s right. Thompson scored 14 more points in one quarter against the Sacramento Kings than the whole Warriors team did tonight in the first quarter.

As the quarter progressed, the Warriors shook themselves out of their funk. Stephen Curry got hot hitting three 3-pointers along with Leandro Barbosa hitting a three of his own. The quarter ended 40-23, the Mavericks with the lead.

Despite shaking themselves out of their offensive funk, this is the most points the Warriors have given up in a quarter all year. Hopefully for the Warriors fans, the team with the best record in the NBA can figure out what is going on and make a come back against a short-handed Mavericks team.
