3. New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are in need of a rebuilding process, and acquiring a young talent like Lance Stephenson would be a big step in the right direction. Phil Jackson has acknowledged that his first full season in New York has fallen flat, and there are some major changes in the future of the organization.

Acquiring Stephenson to be Carmelo Anthony’s number one running mate makes a lot of sense, and it would be a return home for Stephenson as well.

Charlotte would likely be more than happy to accept a deal that had Jose Calderon and Tim Hardaway Jr. coming back in return for Stephenson. They would be getting a deadly three-point shooter in Hardaway and a very solid backup point guard in Calderon. New York won’t want to give up Hardaway, but if that means that they get Stephenson they would likely pull the trigger.

Stephenson would be the start of a big change for the Knicks, and he would bring the New York style of basketball to Madison Square Garden. It wouldn’t be surprising at all to hear of the Knicks showing interest in acquiring Stephenson from Charlotte.
