Seahawks could draft Todd Gurley to replace Marshawn Lynch?
By Evan Massey
The Seattle Seahawks could very well draft running back Todd Gurley and groom him to replace Marshawn Lynch in the future.
Todd Gurley is one of the best running back prospects in the 2015 NFL Draft, but it is unclear where he will end up going when everything is said and done. He tore his ACL last year after returning from suspension, which could hurt his draft stock.
Albert Breer of the NFL Network believes that the Seattle Seahawks would be an ideal spot for Gurley to be drafted. If he does end up lasting until the Seahawks pick, he would be the perfect replacement for Marshawn Lynch in the future. That is exactly what the Seahawks would groom him for.
During his three-year collegiate career with the Georgia Bulldogs, Gurley ended up rushing for 3,285 yards and 36 touchdowns. He has an excellent combination of strength and speed, and is the exact build that an NFL running back needs to be. His running style is exactly the same as Lynch, and playing behind him and learning from Lynch would make him a better running back immediately.

It is going to be interesting to see how much the torn ACL impacts Gurley’s draft stock. If he hadn’t gotten hurt, he would have been a very high draft pick.
Knee injuries are not as serious as they once were with all of the medical advancements. Simply look at how Adrian Peterson has progressed from his torn ACL to see the proof of that statement. Gurley will bounce back just fine from the injury and will have a successful NFL career.

Seattle is a perfect fit for any physical running back, and it would help them in the long run with Lynch needed a new contract after next season. If they did draft Gurley this offseason, he would likely be ready to step into a starting role after the 2015 season just in time to replace Lynch.
There are plenty of other teams in the draft that could use a running back with the skill-set that Gurley possesses. He has the potential to be a superstar NFL running back, but will need to be put in the right situation.
All of that being said, the Seahawks are a legitimate team to keep an eye on when it comes to Gurley. There is a good chance that he will be gone by the time that Seattle comes onto the clock, but if he isn’t then it wouldn’t be surprising to see them go ahead and select him. Either way, expect Gurley to be drafted in the first round this offseason and be a force throughout his NFL career.
