The Green Bay Packers are hoping to re-sign star wide receiver Randall Cobb this coming offseason, and reports are stating that he is looking to get around $9 million per season.

Randall Cobb is one of the most dynamic players in the NFL, and he is entering free agency this offseason. The Green Bay Packers and Cobb have openly shared a mutual desire to get a new deal done this offseason, but it appears that he is looking for around $9 million per season.

That number is likely doable for the Packers, but there are other teams that might be willing to up the money in order to steal him away. Teams like the Cleveland Browns and Oakland Raiders are desperate for wide receiver help, and Cobb is the type of player to help solve their problems quickly. If this number is indeed what Cobb is looking for, he will have absolutely no problems getting what he wants.

During the 2014 season, Cobb ended up catching 91 passes for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns. He formed one of the NFL’s deadliest duos with Jordy Nelson, and helped Aaron Rodgers win the MVP award.

Looking ahead to 2015, the Packers are expected to be one of the most serious Super Bowl contenders in the NFL. They have some money to make changes and additions this offseason, but bringing back Cobb is without a doubt their biggest concern right now. Rodgers and Cobb have developed a great chemistry, and Green Bay cannot afford to lose that.

Cobb is just 24 years old, which makes the future look extremely bright for whoever gives him the deal that he wants. There is still so much potential for him to reach for, and that is a scary thought for any opponent that faced him this past season.

It will be very intriguing to see which teams decide to throw offers at Cobb, assuming he makes it to the open market. Green Bay is going to do everything they can to agree to a new deal with their star receiver before another team has a chance to convince him otherwise. Both sides are working together to get something done, which gives the Packers and their fans quite a bit of confidence that they won’t lose Cobb.

Expect to see Cobb end up back in Green Bay for a very similar type of contract to the four-year, $39 million deal that Nelson got last offseason.
