The Los Angeles Clippers reportedly have interest in SF Tayshaun Prince.

With the NBA Trade Deadline less than two days away, the Clippers are looking to bring in another veteran to help their prospects of winning a championship.

According to Yahoo Sports, the Clippers have interest in Tayshaun Prince of the Boston Celtics. With Blake Griffin likely out for 4-6 weeks, the Clippers need to be careful as they have no room for error within the tough Western Conference. The Clippers are currently six games above the eighth-seeded Phoenix Suns and if they lose a string of games, they could very well lose their spot in the playoffs.

With Griffin out, the Clippers have used Hawes in their starting lineup, but the fact of the matter is that he’s not a starter-level player. That being said, the Clippers aggressively pursued Amar’e Stoudemire, but he decided to sign with the Dallas Mavericks as they clearly have a better chance of winning a championship. By missing out on Stoudemire, it’s no surprise to see that the Clippers are going after a veteran player like Prince.

Obviously a trade for Prince would be ideal, but there is a chance that the Celtics buyout his contract, which would then be even easier for the Clippers to bring back to the place he grew up in. Masslive.com seconded the report saying that whether it’s by trade or by buyout, it’s only a matter of time until Prince is not on the Celtics.

If and when Prince is not with the team, expect the Clippers to make a heavy push for the 2004 NBA champion.
