10 workout warriors who will shine at the 2015 NFL Combine
By R. Phillips
Karlos Williams, RB, Florida State
Williams may not be drafted as highly as we thought a year ago, and doesn’t look like a natural runner on film, but he should show well at the combine.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound running back is big and fast and that typically leads to a solid combine. He is incredibly strong, runs with power and hits hard. He rushed for 689 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2014, while also catching 29 passes for 265 yards and another score.
Williams started his career as a safety and, given his skill set, he probably should have stayed there. But in a workout setting, he should be impressive.
His straight-line speed is excellent given his size, and he should probably test well on the bench press and in the jumping drills. He may not do particularly well in the agility drills, given his stiff hips and overall lack of balance. Overall, he should look impressive this week.
Given that he has well-documented character concerns, Williams will need to have a lights-out combine to improve his rapidly dropping stock.
