The Minnesota Vikings will have the 11th overall pick in the 2015 draft. Now that the team has finally locked down their franchise quarterback, they can look at other positions to build upon that foundation.

The Minnesota Vikings’ roster is circulating with young blood, and the 2015 draft shows promise to fill some of the holes in their group of maturing players.

  • With 23 players on the roster under the age of 25 — namely the freshly laureled NFC Rookie of the Year, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater — the Vikings will be looking at positions like wide receiver, offensive tackle and offensive guard to bolster their depth chart.

In the last three years, the Vikes have made seven first-round picks due to trades, demonstrating an aggressive approach that seems to be slowly paying off.

This time around, Minnesota will have the 11th overall pick in the draft. Now that they  have finally locked down their franchise quarterback, they can look at other positions to build upon that foundation.

Their draft choices will hinge partly on whether they sign contract extensions with certain players like Matt Kalil, who has an available fifth-year option but may be dumped after a pair of disappointing seasons. It’ll also reflect how much faith Zimmer has in Cordarelle Patterson, a freak athlete who lacks consistency and route running know-how.

Moving forward with the draft, I’m acting under the assumption that Adrian Peterson will return to the field wearing purple and gold in 2015.

The Minnesota Vikings are knocking on the door of becoming a contender. Last season they lost four games by a margin of fewer than three points. With the right draft choices and guidance from the higher-ups, they can steer the ship in the right direction.

Let’s take a look at the Vikings’ 2015 mock draft.
