Iowa. Brandon Scherff. 9. player. 31. Scherff had a very poor combine, only performing 23 reps on the bench press and tweaking his hamstring, possibly showing some very poor conditioning. He also doesn’t immediately project as a left tackle, which is what the Giants are looking to fill along the offensive line.
Nevertheless, Scherff is still projected as the best lineman in the draft, particularly as a run blocker. Despite his combine showing, Scherff has shown strength to drive defenders off the line of scrimmage. He does struggle somewhat with faster edge rushers, so he may not end up as a left tackle, where the Giants will need him to play, but he looks to be the team’s best option.
. OT
