Derrick Rose will undergo surgery for a meniscus tear, timetable for return is unknown.

Derrick Rose can’t stay away from the injury bug. He has missed most of the last couple of seasons with ACL tears in his knees and now he will be headed for another surgery in the middle of the season after an MRI has revealed a torn meniscus, per Ben Golliver. The timetable for his return is still not known.

The team has been cautious with him during the season. They have been cautious with his minutes and have sat him any time that he has to deal with any injuries, but another injury has crept up on Derrick. Rose is going to undergo surgery on the torn meniscus and the timetable for his return is not known.

The Bulls have been playing well in February and would be competing for the NBA championship, but they could be headed into the playoffs without their star point guard all over again. With Derrick heading to the bench with an injury, Kirk Hinrich and Aaron Brooks will have to step in to get playing time at the point. Hinrich will likely get the start, while Brooks comes off of the bench.

Derrick had been inconsistent this season. He was settling for a lot of 3-point shots and hesitated attacking the basket. He still was going to be a key contributor to the Bulls playoff run this season. With Rose out, the Bulls playoff hopes take a big hit.
