White Sox pitcher rips cable company on their own network

Jeff Samardzija recently did an interview in which he decided to tell it like it is about his cable company, Comcast.

The catch? The interview, hilariously enough, was on Comcast SportsNet, which you may have deduced, Sherlock Holmes that you are, is owned by Comcast, they very company he’s bashing.

That’s amazing.

A couple of things:

1. We all wish we could be doing what you’re doing, Jeff Samardzija. This is a noble quest.

2. I like that Samardzija felt the need to tell us that he “pays all his own bills.” I would hope that a pitcher who makes $10 million would be able to take care of the bills. None of us thought your credit card statement goes to your parents like an 18-year-old’s, Jeff.

3. I’d like to know if Samardzija remembered he was on Comcast’s network when he made the remark. Was he just casually talking about his Comcast bill, or was he trying to make a jab at them directly? I’m hoping the latter, and it’s more likely that was the case.

4. I’d also love to know the context of this remark (why was he talking about his bills at all?) and the reactions of other people on the show, but unfortunately there’s no video available.

Bashing Comcast isn’t exactly novel, but it will never get old, mostly because they totally deserve it. This is the company, remember, that not only charges ridiculous fees, but has recently been in hot water from referring to two customers as “Asshole Brown” and “Super Bitch Bauer” directly on their Comcast bills. And that’s only the beginning for the company voted by Consumerist as the worst company in America. And yet even that can’t stop them from remaining a cable giant (it doesn’t help that the other companies are nearly as bad).

So kudos to Samardzija for bashing them on their own network. We should all look forward to seeing what name they’ll be calling him on his next bill.
