San Diego Padres

If the San Diego Padres are serious about trying to get back into postseason contention, then there is no better thing that they could do than attempt to acquire Cole Hamels from the Philadelphia Phillies. They have already acquired Matt Kemp, Justin Upton, Wil Meyers, and of course James Shields this offseason. All of those names are excellent pickups, but Hamels would put the cherry on top.

He would add an excellent veteran presence, and would help the top of the rotation alongside of Shields. San Diego needs to make at least one more move if they want to make the postseason, and this could be the move that they need.

General manager A.J. Preller has made it very clear that he doesn’t want to accept the losing ways that the Padres have had for a while now. He wants to turn things around and get San Diego back to being a legitimate contender. It is going to take more work, but they have gotten off to a fairly good start.
