Center Picks

High Salary: With Boogie Cousins in a tough matchup at his huge 11K salary, I think it’s a better option to go with DeAndre Jordan against a Houston team without Dwight Howard. Jordan only managed nine points on Monday against Memphis, but he continued his unreal rebounding with 17 boards.  In his last five games, Jordan has averaged a crazy 18.4 points and 19.4 rebounds and should be dominant again tonight. His FT percentage is ugly, but in FanDuel missed free throws don’t count against you so spend the 9,200 on him if you decide to spend money on a big-name center.

High Salary: Since the All Star break, Nikola Vecevic has also been posting incredible numbers and is more of a scorer than Jordan although his rebound and blocks numbers aren’t quite as good.  Vucevic has averaged 25.7 points and 15 rebounds in his last three games while posting at least 35 FanDuel points in each outing.

Bonus Blend of Salary/Value: Although his numbers have returned to earth a little, Hassan Whiteside is in a great matchup against Nikola Vucevic (also a good play) tonight in the battle for Florida. Whiteside has three double-doubles in his last four games with at least 14 rebounds in each of those performances.  He also can pile up the blocks in certain matchups which only adds to his fantasy upside. The Magic have struggled defensively against opposing Centers all season, so expect Whiteside to put together a solid game tonight.

High Value: As the Jazz full-time starting center, Rudy Gobert continues to put up solid statlines and represent a nice value at only 5,900.  Gobert has multiple blocks in eight of his last nine games and was able to add 14 rebounds and seven points against the Spurs in his most recent game to finish with 34.3 FanDuel points. Gobert and the Jazz take on the Lakers tonight in a favorable matchup for the lanky Frenchman.

High Value: Another solid option at around 5,000, Marcin Gortat is coming off back-to-back double-doubles for the Wizards after posting 16 points and 11 rebounds against the Warriors last night. He takes on a Minnesota team that struggles at times defensively in the frontcourt, so Gortat should be a solid play again tonight if you need to save money at center.

Bonus Bargain Option: While Anthony Davis is out, Alexis Ajinca will have increased value as he plays extra minutes.  He had a nice game Monday against Toronto finishing with 16 points and nine rebounds and will look to post a similar line tonight against the Nets.
