Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry was brutally honest when discussing how he has performed as of late.

Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry might have been an All-Star this season, but he sure hasn’t played like it as of late.

The Raptors have won just four games in its last nine tries and Lowry has shot just 26.1 percent from the field since the all-star game.

Lowry has been struggling and he knows it. The point guard was asked about his recent play on Thursday and stated that he’s been “trash.”

From the Toronto Sun:

"Asked to describe his game at the moment, Lowry had a quick response: “Me? I’m trash,” Lowry told reporters. “I’m trying to figure it out right now, to be honest with you. I don’t know (how to fix it), that’s why I’m in here, working hard and trying to figure out what to do to get myself back on track.”"

Lowry isn’t the only Raptors star who has performed below his expected level recently; DeMar DeRozan is shooting just 36.4 percent since the break.

"DeRozan did not duck away from that assessment of the status of his own game.“Right next to the trash can (that Lowry’s) is. Both trash,” DeRozan told the Sun, matter-of-factly as he signed merchandise following his media scrum."

It’s refreshing to see Lowry and DeRozan so bluntly talk about their poor play. Perhaps acknowledging their struggles is the first step in them turning it around.

The Raptors sure better hope that’s the case, considering how important Lowry and DeRozan are to their success.

Lowry is averaging 18.3 points (41.6 percent shooting from the field, 32.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc), 7.1 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game.  DeRozan is averaging 18.1 points (39.4 percent shooting from the floor, 20.4 percent shooting from three), 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

The Raptors are 37-20, which places them in second place in the Eastern Conference, eight games behind the Atlanta Hawks for the top spot in the conference and one game ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers for third place.
