Chicago Bears NFL Mock Draft 2015: Latest 7-round projections
By Ryan Lehrman
Round 2 pick 39 – Danielle Hunter, DE (LSU)
To lend pass rushing support to the new OLB, the Bears would benefit from LSU’s Danielle Hunter. An imposing specimen at 6-foot-5 and 252 pounds, Hunter outpaces blockers and shuts down passing windows with his long arms.
He concluded his Tigers career with 142 tackles, 21 tackles for losses and 4.5 sacks. His relentless attack and experience will mesh well with Fangio’s new 3-4 defensive scheme. And for Bears fans who will soon be looking to correct opponents’ imminent insults, his first name is pronounced “Duh-neal.”
Sidenote: Some NFL experts are pushing for the Bears to draft a quarterback with their 39th pick. The problem is the only ballpark option is UCLA’s Brett Hundley, who lacks the pocket awareness to prosper in the big leagues. Instead, I’d vote to wait another season or search free agency in order to lose a little less on Cutler’s bloated contract and then get someone who can develop into a franchise QB.
