Famous rapper and Green Bay Packer fan, Lil Wayne goes to twitter to try and recruit former New England Patriot defensive tackle, Vince Wilfork to join the Packers

Lil’ Wayne does love his Green Bay Packers. So much so that he is going to twitter to try and convince star  defensive tackle, Vince Wilfork to join his favorite team. The New England Patriots announced that Wilfork is being released, putting him out on the market. If the Packers want, they could snag the big man in the middle in free agency this off season.

Lil Wayne has always been a Packers fan, despite growing up in New Orleans Saints country. Apparently, growing up his Dad attended a Packers game and brought home some gear. Weezy has been a die hard fan ever since.

He even made a remix to Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow” called “Green and Yellow” to support his favorite NFL squad.

Even though it is a silly idea that a rapper could recruit a football player to join his favorite team, Wilfork would do a number of things for the Packers defense. For one, he would eat those interior offensive linemen alive, allowing Clay Matthews to have a little extra room (which he has proven that he doesn’t really need) to make plays at the inside or outside linebacker position.

Wilfork is getting up their in age (34) for a defensive tackle, but he can also alleviate some pressure that is designated to Julius Peppers on the outside. Peppers isn’t exactly the player he was five years ago, but if Wilfork’s presence on the inside allows Peppers to be free of any double team, he can still rack up the sacks with his superior athleticism.

If I am an offensive coordinator I don’t know who I am going to run away from. Either you run up the middle and get eaten alive by Wilfork, or you bounce it to the outside only to meet 6’7, 287 pound Peppers.

This all sounds fine and dandy for the Packers. But does rappers recruiting star players really work? Well, for Lil Wayne it was definitely worth a shot.
