Watson was one-under par for his first round, and he tied for the second-best round on Friday by going three-under par which was good enough to move him up nine spots and just five shots off the leader – J.B. Holmes.
As good as his day was, he was incredibly close to completely turning it around after he hit a scary drive on the 18th hole.
Watson is one of the strongest drivers on the entire tour, and I can’t even begin to imagine what one of his drives would do to someone if it hit them directly in the head when it was at full speed.
I know the proper protocol is to sign a glove and give it to the person that you hit, but surely Watson would have had to pull out something special had this moment gone really bad.
He later hit a ball right into the gallery when he was shooting for the pin on another hole.
I’m sure everyone will be cautious tomorrow whenever Watson is driving the ball.
