Earlier tonight we saw Gerald Henderson, a solid and normally unspectacular player, throw down one of his few big highlights of the season with a hanging hammer dunk on the Sacramento Kings. Like Henderson, Wilson Chandler is a solid player who normally just fits into the flow of the game and doesn’t stand out for anything more than being a nice piece of a good team. But also like Henderson, Chandler has the potential to explode into the air for a nice poster dunk and tonight he did just that on the Atlanta Hawks.

There is a ton of power in that throw down, which is made even more impressive by the fact that Chandler does it off the dribble instead of out of a full spring on the break. To do something like that takes a lot of power, something that it is easy to forget Chandler has.

Like we saw earlier tonight with Ray McCollum, Pero Antic probably made the right decision to get out of the way here instead of seriously challenging Chandler’s dunk, because he was not going to be successful.

Chandler’s dunk was part of the Nuggets impressive beatdown of the Hawks which is amazing to believe considering how much of a mess the Nuggets were just a few weeks ago. Apparently Melvin Hunt is doing something right.
