11 biggest surprises from the 2014-15 NBA season so far

Russell Westbrook
One of the most surprising players in the entire NBA has been Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook. The Thunder have been struggling through the 2014-15 season due to injury issues, especially to superstar forward Kevin Durant.
Westbrook has been playing at an MVP caliber level, and averaged 31.2 points, 10.3 assists and 9.1 rebounds per game in February and also had a stretch this year where he put up four straight triple-doubles.
Those numbers show exactly why he will be an MVP candidate at the end of the season. Some may not view him as a “surprise” this season, but his play has proved that he is more than capable of being a true franchise player.
Oklahoma City now has options with Kevin Durant as he looks ahead to his free agency.
It isn’t likely that the Thunder would consider trading him, but there have already been some rumors about that. Westbrook has proven himself as a number one player, and has been one of the biggest surprises of the NBA season.
