For those of you that do the bracket games, I will unveil all of my picks by Wednesday night. For those of you that play the round by round games, I will also put my picks out there after every round as well. There will be something for everyone!

In the preview, I will give you a favorite, and dark horse team, which would be a four seed or higher than could win the region. A team to watch for, overseeded and underseeded teams, and of course, a double digit seed most likely to win one or more games.

Our Last region is the south region. Let’s get to it!

Favorite: Duke. The Blue Devils have a pretty easy road to the regional finals in this one. Most consider Gonzaga the weakest two seed. Georgetown is probably the weakest four seed.

Watch out for: Iowa State. This is a well coached, disciplined, and physical team. They have a great frontcourt, which could give both Gonzaga and Duke problems.

Dark Horse: SMU. No pun intended. They don’t get a lot of notoriety in the American Conference, but Larry Brown is a really good coach. He won this tournament the last time he was invited. Of course, that was 1988, but who’s counting? In all seriousness, just look at what they did to a UConn team that was peaking in the American tourney on Sunday. This is a very good team, and easily the most dangerous six seed.

Begging To Be Upset: Georgetown. March is here, so the Hoyas aren’t Not only that, but Eastern Washington is a really good shooting team. Georgetown’s only shot is to try and slow the game down and beat them up inside. It may or may not work.

Overseeded: UCLA. They are the one team that I have a beef with this year. I could name five teams that deserved this berth more than the Bruins did.

Underseeded: Davidson. This isn’t really a glaring one because they were going to be in the same boat no matter what. They weren’t getting anything better than a seven seed.

Cinderella: Stephen F. Austin. Utah is a solid team, but if SFA can pull the 12-5 upset for the second consecutive year, they have an oustanding shot to make it to Houston. Unfortunately, that is where they would run into Duke.

Come back for the picks for the First Four, and of course, the bracket picks!
