Wigan v. Manchester City

The 2013 FA Cup final took place between Manchester City and Wigan Athletic. This was Wigan’s first appearance in the FA Cup final, as the game, much like a southern sorority or a fondue party, tends to have a lot of Chelseas.

To purvey the historic atmosphere for fans in the United States, Fox Sports 1 emplyed the services of Gus Johnson. And when Johnson is in the booth, drama will be sure to follow. Ben Watson recorded a stoppage time goal that secured the 1-0 victory for Wigan, and Johnson was able to follow up the shot with appropriate commentary.

The obvious best part about this call is Ian Wright’s giggling in the background. He’s like a carton squirrel you’re tickling in the stomach.

Two days after the match, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini was sacked.
