In a poll conducted by ESPN The Magazine, Harper took home 41 percent of the votes as the most overrated player, beating out Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig who had 15 percent of the vote,  according to the Washington Post.

Harper was limited to 100 games last year and batted .273 with only 13 home runs and 32 runs batted in. The Nationals had a great deal of team success, winning a National League-high 96 games last year but lost to the San Francisco Giants in the NLDS.

He is often lumped into the conversation with Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim’s Mike Trout because the two made their MLB debuts on the same day, but Trout won the MVP last year and finished as the runner-up in the two seasons before that.

Harper is far from the player that Trout is but he is still only 22 years old and has two All-Star Game appearance on his resume and a career .816 OPS through his first three seasons. By comparison, the top prospect in MLB is 23-year-old Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs who is 8.5 months older than Harper and has yet to make his MLB debut.

The expectations for Harper were through the roof and still are, but there’s no denying his production and injury history has prevented him from reaching those lofty expectations. After playing in 100 games in 2014 and 118 in 2013, will this be the year Harper plays at least 150 games and gets his first 30-home run, 90 RBI season?

Let us know in the comments section below who gets your vote for most overrated and if you agree with the players who participated in the ESPN The Magazine vote and tabbed Harper with the dubious honor.
