As this weekend of March Madness has come to an end, Wisconsin will resume action Thursday for a bid to the Elite 8 against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Wisconsin didn’t have much of a challenge in the first round of action, but the Oregon Ducks really pushed them against the wall tonight. Oregon was only down by three at the half, and they actually tied the game at 52 with just under six minutes remaining. However, that is when the Badgers kicked it up a notch and showed that they were the superior team. Wisconsin went on a 10-2 run after the game was tied, and that run was ultimately good enough to give them the edge as they won the game 72-65.

The Ducks only had two players score in double-figures, and they were carried by senior guard Joseph Young who dropped 30 on 12-25 shooting. The game topped off a fantastic final season for Young who averaged 20.4 points (45.0 percent shooting), 4.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

This is a rough loss for Oregon, but they should have their heads held high as they had a great season and went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the nation.

As expected, the Badgers had a true team effort as they had four players score at least 12 points. Their star Frank Kaminsky finished with 16 points (46.0 percent shooting) and seven rebounds. Sam Dekker led the Badgers in scoring with 17 points (50.0 percent shooting) and also added in five rebounds.

Many people believe that Wisconsin might have the best shot at beating the powerhouse that is the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats, and the two teams appear to be on a collision course to meet in the Final Four as they are each only two wins away.
