The Cleveland Browns are known for being a franchise in constant turmoil — but could they really be traded for another team?

When your team isn’t doing well, it’s fun to joke that they should just be traded for an entirely different team — but for the Cleveland Browns that might end up actually being true.

Jimmy Haslam purchased the Browns not long ago, and he apparently is ready to move on to running another franchise into the ground.

According to Jason La Canfora from CBSSports, one of the more bizarre situations to watch moving forward could be a franchise trade between the Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans. As La Canfora reports, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam badly wants to own the Titans, and his opportunity to do so could come in swapping franchises with whoever buys the Titans.

"In his perfect world, however, if someone other than Tepper ends up with the Titans, several highly-placed sources have suggested there might be backroom talks of a potential franchise swap with the Browns (Tepper is a Pittsburgh guy through and through, and would never want to own their rival in the Browns). It would be, ultimately, probably impossible, but it’s a dynamic other owners are watching and many interested parties will be monitoring."

This is ludicrous in every single way possible — but it’s so Cleveland and such a Browns thing that it’s almost fitting. The Browns wouldn’t move to Tennessee and the Titans wouldn’t move to Cleveland, but this is as close as you can get.

Stranger things have happened in the NFL, but not recently and not by much. An owner trading his franchise for another is unheard of in modern professional sports and in business.

What would happen if the Walmart guy decided he wants to own Target because he liked the logo better and swapped with Target ownership? That’s unheard of, and it shows just how obscene things are in the Cleveland front office — proving that the insanity goes all the way to the highest levels of management.
