Fantasy Baseball: Top Ten First Basemen

facebooktwitterreddit

We are another day closer to the first real pitch being tossed out. With that day coming ever so closer let’s take a look at our top ten 1B heading into the baseball season.

10. player. 61. Joey Votto missed a significant amount of time the past two seasons and is definitely being overlooked in fantasy drafts as a result. I believe that Votto is still a solid player and worthy of being in the top ten list of 1B in this years standard fantasy baseball drafts. I think if he is healthy and can stay on the field he will certainly finish the season as a top ten 1B and return ample value for being drafted there. For those of you who are taking him as a 15 or lower 1B will reap a nice reward.. First Base. Cincinnati Reds. Joey Votto

Prince Fielder. 9. player. 95. Prince Fielder is set to return to form this season. After a rough season of missing 120 games due to a bad neck injury Fielder finds himself at a bargain rate for a 1B who has always been a top fantasy option. If Fielder can hold off ‘Father Time’ for another season or two then he will be a great bargain for fantasy baseball players this year.. First Base. Texas Rangers

Buster Posey. 7. player. 31. Buster Posey is a nice player to own as he has dual position eligibility. He is a catcher and a 1B. Posey usually hits for a very nice average and will push around 20 homers with a solid RBI and runs total. He is also a very reliable player and does a little something almost every week.. First Base. San Francisco Ginats

9. Anthony Rizzo really came into his own last year with 32 home runs. He is a young player that is still learning the game and improving and is in what appears at the moment to be an improving Cubs lineup. I am not saying that this year Rizzo will hit 40+ home runs but he should likely see an improving average and hopefully higher RBIs and runs scored.. First Base. Chicago Cubs. Anthony Rizzo. 6. player

Freddie Freeman. 3. player. 17. I feel like Freddie Freeman is the last of the Braves that we remember from the past few years. This makes me just a bit worried about his future, but I am pretty certain that once the season kicks off he will make me forget all about it and begin doing what he does so well and that is adding up stats for your fantasy baseball team. Draft Freddie with confidence and don’t worry about him unless we hit the summer months and his numbers are not what we expect.. First Base. Atlanta Braves

player. 63. Miguel Cabrera is starting to show some signs of aging, but he is still easily a top 2 1B. He may even be the better of the two regardless of where I have him ranked here. Cabrera is a guy who plays with an intensity that is second-to-none and will find a way to continue to produce despite his aging body.. First Base. Detroit Tigers. Miguel Cabrera. 2

First Base. Arizona Diamondbacks. Paul Goldschmidt. 1. player. 8. Paul Goldschmidt is a great baseball player. He takes my cake for the top 1B for multiple reasons. He is a fairly young guy who is 27-years-old and stands to continue to improve to a slight degree this season. Last year in 109 games he still managed to hit 19 home runs, 69 RBIs and score 75  runs. Goldy isn’t known for his speed, but could turn in around 15-20 SBs this year as he stole 9 last year. I would more expect the lower side of that, but you never know. Draft Goldschmidt with confidence.
