Michigan State fans make ‘No Type’ parody video

Michigan State basketball fans made a parody to Rae Sremmurd’s “No Type” talking about their run to the Final Four this postseason.

The Michigan State Spartans have had an amazing run to the Final Four during the NCAA Tournament this postseason after getting a big to the tournament as a 7-seed and beating some great teams on their way to Indianapolis. While head coach Tom Izzo and point guard Travis Trice have been leading the Spartans on their amazing run, their fans have been having some fun with it as well.

YouTube users known as “Vybe Source” are Michigan State fans that made a pretty fantastic hype video for the Spartans’ run to the Final Four making a parody of hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd’s “No Type” song that came of the album SremmLife and exploded on charts globally.

Here’s the video Vybe Source released on YouTube April 2 and brought to our attention thanks to our friends at Bleacher Report.

We’ve definitely seen some bad parody videos in the past, but there’s something about sports fans where they can somehow make some pretty good ones. This parody replaces the words “I ain’t got no type” from Sremmurd’s song with “Rep that green and white” the colors of Michigan State. The song also has some funny lines including “Three from Travis Trice, can’t take my couch from me so I burn it how I like.” This line alludes the reputation that Michigan State fans have for burning couches after big wins mostly outside the Cedar Village apartment complex where many students reside in East Lansing.

Here’s a video of Michigan State fans partying in the streets and burning coaches after they defeated Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship in 2013 before they went on to the 2014 Rose Bowl and defeated Stanford.

Michigan State basketball has a long history of success especially with Tom Izzo as their head coach who has solidified himself as not only one of the best current coaches but one of the best all-time. He’s led Michigan State to the NCAA Tournament every year since 1998 and they’ve made the Final Four five times in that span, including this year as a 7-seed.

The Spartans, led by great play from point guard Travis Trice who has averaged 19.7 points per game in the tournament, defeated 10-seed Georgia, 2-seed Virginia, 3-seed Oklahoma and 4-seed Louisville to move on to the Final Four. Now, they take on Jahlil Okafor and 1-seed Duke as they try to advance to the National Championship to take on Kentucky or Wisconsin.
