Indiana Pacers star shooting guard Paul George made his return to the NBA after he suffered a terrible compound fracture to his left leg during a Team U.S.A. basketball scrimmage over the summer and he is finally ready and healthy to play and is back in action for the Pacers on Easter Sunday against the Miami Heat.
After he checked into the game with a little over five minutes left in the first quarter, Paul George went around a Roy Hibbert screen and made a nice pull up jumper in his first shot in a game since his horrific accident:
When he checked into the game, the crowd gave a great standing ovation to the player that helped take the Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2014 before losing to the Heat.
The Indiana Pacers and Paul George made the decision that he would return Sunday as they are in a tight race in the Eastern Conference to get into the playoffs. They are currently in tenth, one game behind the Miami Heat and 1.5 points behind the Boston Celtics who are currently in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.
Paul George averaged 21.7 points per game and nearly seven rebounds in the 2013-2014 season leading the Pacers to the playoffs and after he made his long-awaited return on Sunday, he will hope to lead the Pacers to the playoffs while they have six games remaining in their season. If he can continue to make great shots like he did in his first shot since returning on Sunday, I like Indiana’s chances.
