Report: Derrick Rose ‘likely’ to return from injury sometime next week
After tearing his meniscus in February, Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is ‘likely’ to return sometime next week before the playoffs begin.
When Derrick Rose suffered a torn meniscus back in February, it didn’t look good for the point guard who had suffered yet another knee injury.

However, it now sounds like the Bulls will be getting their point guard back before the playoffs begin in a few weeks.
During Sunday’s broadcast of the Bulls at Cavaliers game, ABC’s Lisa Salters reported that Rose is expected to return sometime this week.
While he’s ‘likely’ to return per Salters, the exact return hasn’t been exactly established yet.
"“He’s not sure,” Salters said re: Derrick’s exact return date. “They’re discussing it with the doctors, the front office, the coaches. But he told me likely sometime this week.”"
According to K.C. Johnson of The Chicago Tribune, Salters report coincides with the timeline that the Bulls originally gave for Rose’s return.
Rose’s return is great news for the Bulls who have gone just 10-8 since the injury.
The Bulls are considered by many to be favorites to represent the Eastern Conference in the finals because of their physical style of play that will well suit them in the playoffs.
Adding Rose back to a lineup with Joakim Noah, Pau Gasol, Jimmy Butler and the emerging Nikola Mirotic, will add a big lift to the Bulls lineup.
Getting him back this week, would allow the Bulls to get him some minutes and court time before throwing him into a playoff situation.
Sunday’s game against the Cavaliers, was a memorable contest that featured jawing between both teams and perhaps might have been a preview of a future playoff series between two teams who have a strong chance to win the east.
With the Atlanta Hawks not looking as hot lately, the Cavaliers have been the hottest team in the league since January, and have won 18 straight games at home, where they have been almost unbeatable.
If the Bulls are going to have a chance against the top teams in the east, they are going to need Rose back on the court healthy and making plays.
Before the injury, Rose looked like his old self making impressive moves to the hoop and setting up teammates for big shots.
In 46 games this season, Rose averaged 18.4 points, 5.0 assists and 3.1 rebounds a game. The good news for Rose and the Bulls, he will now have a chance to bring those numbers back to the court.
