Gregg Popovich likes how Kawhi Leonard plays as if he’s bored

Gregg Popovich was the Gregg Popovich that we all know and love in an interview about Kawhi Leonard’s steal and dunk last Sunday against Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry. Popovich said he appreciated that Leonard didn’t react afterwards with flexing or banging his chest. Or, as the gentle and eloquent Popovich put it, “Stupid-A**” stuff (cough, cough; stirring it up with James Harden, back breaker with LeBron, holstering threes for Russell Westbrook).

Kawhi Leonard is much like an expensive knife in Popvich’s kitchen. It doesn’t stand out, it doesn’t take any credit, and it makes difficult tasks look easier due to its composition.  I challenge anyone to remember any time they saw emotion from Kawhi Leonard.

OK, the only moment that comes to mind is the smile he gave hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy. But, that is the freaking Larry O’Brien Trophy, though. If you’re not smiling when you hold that trophy, it may electrocute you.

Kawhi Leonard can do some amazing things on the basketball court and his reserved, and what seems like shy, character is a shoo-in for the Spurs franchise . Kawhi and Popovich are a match made by the basketball gods.

Keep doing more awesome stuff, Kawhi, so we can hear more awesome-ass quotes from Pop.
