The Dallas Cowboys have brought in Georgia RB Todd Gurley for a visit.

Georgia RB Todd Gurley is one of the best running back prospects to enter the NFL draft in a long time. The biggest question is his health since his season ended early with a torn ACL. Scouts wonder how he will be able to bounce back. He has been compared to some phenomenal backs going into the NFL. Comparisons to Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch have been made over and over again .

The Dallas Cowboys are interested in his talent. After DeMarco Murray signed on to play with the Philadelphia Eagles, the team could use someone to take the rock to pick up the yards behind that massive offensive line that the team has built up. Last season, the Cowboys gave the ball to Murray 392 times and he ran for 1,8445 yards with a 4.7 yard per carry average.

The Cowboys are going to lean on the running game again on offense. They will take the pressure off of Tony Romo and ask the big boys up front to pave the way for their running game. At this point, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar top the depth chart for the team. Last season, McFadden was able to play in all 16 games during the season for the first time in his career, but only finished with 534 yards with a 3.4 yards per carry average. McFadden only has one season over 1,000 yards in his 7 seasons in the league. The team will likely be looking for someone else to do the heavy lifting. Gurley could be the guy that they want to take.

Gurley is scheduled for a visit with the Cowboys this week, per Pro Football Talk. He arrived in town on Monday night and the team will meet up to see how he fits on the roster. The Cowboys select at pick 27 in the draft and they would be hoping that Gurley would slide down that far or the Cowboys could consider moving up the draft to make a trade for him.

Adding Gurley onto the Cowboys depth chart would give the team an immediate impact player on offense. He would be relied upon to take the starting role and would also be able to get a breather from the veteran McFadden when it was needed. He would have the potential to be the league rookie of the year with the cast around him in Dallas.

The team is also expected  to meet with Alabama RB T.J Yeldon, Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon, Boise State’s Jay Ayaji, Nebraska’s Ameer Abdullah and Indiana’s Tevin Coleman this week. It will be a busy week as the Cowboys prep to find their running back for the future.
