Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland was stabbed on Wednesday morning at 1Oak nightclub, and the venue has released an official statement.

The NBA is dealing with a sticky situation on it’s hands as three of their players were involved in a serious incident on Wednesday morning. Two Atlanta Hawks players — Thabo Sefolosha and Pero Antic — were arrested for obstruction of justice after Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland and his wife were stabbed inside of 1Oak nightclub.

Chris Copeland broke an elbow and was stabbed in the abdomen in the attack, with his wife suffering slash wounds that required her to receive medical attention.

The nightclub issued an official statement addressing the Chris Copeland stabbing and wanted to reiterate their role in the matter was nothing other than helpful.

"1OAK is extremely concerned with the safety of its patrons and the community. Mr. Copeland and his wife were accosted in front of Fulton Houses where the unfortunate incident occurred after an altercation with the perpetrator. 1OAK staff was unaware of the incident when it happened, as it occurred beyond their view in a different location. However, 1OAK’s team assisted Mr. Copeland to their fullest capabilities, and called for help as soon as he was seen walking back towards the venue. As a committed community member and partner, 1OAK has been working diligently with the NYPD, and a review of the video footage seems to reveal the incident did not originate from the venue or its immediate surroundings that are under 1OAK supervision. Mr. Copeland’s driver sprang to accost and detain the apparent perpetrator and that individual is now in police custody."

It’s a scary incident any way you look at it, but it appears that Copeland and his wife are going to come out of this sat least physically okay. There’s still the stress of sorting the situation out though, as the NBA has no idea what spurred this incident, the police are still investigating and a lot of people are in the dark still.

The real story will come out, but until that happens, all we can do is hope for the best with Copeland and his wife.
