Dallas Mavericks owner Marc Cuban ripped the college basketball game and said that it will keep the kids from being pros.

The men’s college basketball season is over with Duke winning the national championship over Wisconsin. With the season over, the critics of the college game are starting to come out now. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban shared his feelings on the college game and did not hold back. Here is a little bit from what he said via ESPN:

More from Dallas Mavericks

"“If they want to keep kids in school and keep them from being pro players, they’re doing it the exact right way by having the 35-second shot clock and having the game look and officiated the way it is,” Cuban said Wednesday night. “Just because kids don’t know how to play a full game of basketball.“You’ve got three kids passing on the perimeter. With 10 seconds on the shot clock, they try to make something happen and two other kids stand around. They don’t look for anything and then run back on defense, so there’s no transition game because two out of five or three out of five or in some cases four out of five kids aren’t involved in the play.“It’s uglier than ugly, and it’s evidenced by the scoring going down. When the NBA went through that, we changed things.”"

Is Cuban wrong? When teams are passing the ball around and milking that 35-second clock down to the finals seconds, the game is going to get ugly and it will not show off some of the talent that is in the college game. It is an effective way to win games and teams will bring in that strategy more and more as long as the game keeps allowing it to happen. The college basketball game needs to find ways to adjust.

The stars will still shine though. Even if the game is played that way by some teams, the stars will still shine. The top prospects will get to the NBA based on what they are able to do in the college game. The game might be played a little different in college, but the ball still needs to go in the basket. The people who can make that happen will get to the NBA. They will rise above the rest.

Perhaps, Cuban is mad about the Mavs struggle at finding a prospect in the college to contribute for their team. The last time that the Mavs have found anyone that has been able to contribute to the Mavs team was when they selected Josh Howard in 2003. That is a long to go without finding a player in the college game to help the team develop.
