Kentucky is expected to declare for the NBA in their press conference at 2:30 on Thursday afternoon.

Kentucky is holding a press conference this afternoon and the expectations are that the team will announce that they are going pro. The school is not becoming the next NBA franchise, but most of the main contributors to that team are expected to declare for the NBA during the press conference.

More from NBA Draft

The Widlcats went 38-1 during the season and had all kinds of talent across the roster. There are a lot of players on the team that will make an impact in the NBA and it sounds like they will declare for the NBA draft at 2:30 pm eastern time.

During the press conference, Wildcats stars Karl-Anthony Towns, Willia Cauley-Stein, Trey Lyles, the Harrison twins, Andrew and Aaron and possibly Devin Booker and Dakari Johnson all could declare for the NBA draft. Most of them are expected to make that announcement.

Karl-Anthony Towns would be expected to be one of the top picks if he were to declare. He would either be selected 1st or 2nd overall. Cauley-Stein would likely be a top-10 selection in the draft. Devin Booker and Trey Lyles would likely be first round prospects and the Harrison twins and Dakari Johnson would be selected later in the draft. Other than Cauley-Stein (junior), the rest of the guys that would declare would be freshmen and sophomores.

John Calipari knows the drill. He has done this long enough to know that his players are on to bigger and better things. He expects it out of the.

“There’s not going to be any brainwashing, forcing, pushing either in or out,” Kentucky head coach John Calipari told reporters Monday. “I want each kid to make a decision for themselves.”

When they make that announcement, Calipari will be able to show all his recruits that he can get them to the NBA. There will be plenty of playing time available on the UK roster. Calipari knows that his roster will get turned over every season, but he uses it to his advantage. He finds all the talent in high school and tells them that Kentucky is a perfect path for the NBA. With the announcement today, it is a perfect way to showcase there. If they want to get to the NBA, they just have to play with the Wildcats for a season or two.
