Knicks owner James Dolan doesn’t mind fans who wear bags on heads
Knicks’ owner James Dolan says he doesn’t mind that some of his fans wear paper bags over their heads.
Being an owner in the NBA isn’t a very easy job. In fact, some guys spend their entire tenures as owner just trying to make their fans happy, but nothing comes of it. Fans in professional sports can be very cruel and unforgiving — something New York Knicks‘ owner James Dolan knows that first hand.

Finding a spot for the legendary Phil Jackson to run all of the Knicks operations was a key move to silence critics. But after two tough seasons, including one in which the Knicks had the worst record in the NBA at 15-63, people are growing restless in the Big Apple.
Dolan, however, is finding a way to stay positive throughout all the poor performances and fans calling for his job as well as Jackson’s.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Dolan admitted that the fans who come to games with bags over their heads don’t bother him one bit. In fact, he somewhat accepts those embarrassed fans with open arms.
"“The Knicks fans, by the way, have been great this year. The majority of them understand we’re in a rebuild, we’re moving as fast as we can, and they see our opportunities as being huge. I think they are, but it’s all in Phil’s hands.”"
Is that just the right thing to say or is he in major denial?
Sure, the team re-signed Carmelo Anthony long-term last offseason, making New York fans happy for a short time, but the team didn’t carry any luck into the 2014-15 season and they are currently in line to snag the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft — which could actually turn out to be the best thing for the future.
It has to be hard as an owner to see your team go through such turmoil and just hope for the best while placing all your trust in another person as Dolan has with Jackson. As for giving up on the former legendary coach as the basketball operations guy, Dolan said he wouldn’t.
“You got to believe, baby! I believe! I believe!”
That is some serious sportsmanship from a guy who has seen his team put up one of the most embarrassing records in league history this year.
Well, maybe he hasn’t watched his team. Either way, give Dolan credit for being a good sport, but then take it away for being in denial.
